Cyan Pictures

A Smarter Approach to Indie Film

THE OH IN OHIO

NEW YORK – March 27, 2006.   Cyan Pictures is proud to announce the acquisition of domestic theatrical rights to the Ambush Entertainment production THE OH IN OHIO, a fresh and sexy comedy from first-time director Billy Kent.

The film's stellar cast includes Parker Posey (Waiting for Guffman, You've Got Mail), Paul Rudd (The 40 Year Old Virgin, Anchorman ), Mischa Barton (television's "The OC", Notting Hill), Miranda Bailey (Dead & Breakfast, Unearthed), Liza Minnelli and Danny DeVito as Wayne.

THE OH IN OHIO tells the story of Priscilla Chase (Posey), a young Cleveland woman who seems to have it all – the perfect job, the perfect house, the perfect husband – except for in bed, where sex has always left her a bit short of the finish line.

When the problem drives her husband (Rudd) to leave her suddenly for one of his high school students (Barton), Priscilla's idyllic world is shattered.  She sets out on a quest to become just as good at sex as she is at everything else in life – a wild journey that leads her into the arms of the man she least expected, and to the discovery that happiness sometimes lies in the most unlikely places.

The film is the latest in a string of acquisitions for Cyan Pictures, which recently picked up worldwide rights to Lynn Shelton's WE GO WAY BACK, winner of Best Narrative Feature and Best Cinematography at the 2006 Slamdance Film Festival.

Built from the ground up to support independent filmmakers, Cyan's new distribution arm will launch its first slate this summer with OHIO.  "All of us at Cyan are huge fans of this film, and we're thrilled to play a part in sharing it," said EVP Rob Barnum.  "It's the perfect kick-off to an outstanding slate."

OHIO premiered on March 13 at South by Southwest, where it was met with a rousing reception.  It will appear throughout the spring at several other festivals, including the Vail Film Festival, which it will open.  Cyan will unspool the film in select cities this summer.

The deal was negotiated by Arclight Films' Jonathan Deckter and Cyan CEO Joshua Newman.  The release will be overseen at Cyan by SVP Scott Bromley and at Ambush by producers Amy Salko Robertson, Francey Grace and Miranda Bailey.
