A Smarter Approach to Indie Film

Film Production

Independent films are all about balance.

Some companies put out great films by focusing solely on the creative side of filmmaking. Unfortunately, they don't often make profitable films, so they don't get to make many before running their companies into the ground. Worse, most of the great films they make are never seen beyond the festival circuit, never find the audience they deserve.

At the same time, other companies seem happy to sell their souls for box-office success. But, to us, putting an animatronic kangaroo into the second act sort of defeats the point of making movies in the first place. If you've given up on making smart, thought-provoking films, you might as well close down the production company and start an investment bank instead. Trust us: that's a far easier way to retire young to the Bahamas.

Here at Cyan, we're taking the middle path: creating challenging films that we're passionate about, then sharing them with the broadest possible audience.
